Editorial policy
How we collect information, write our guides, handle corrections and keep paid or connected listings separate from everything else.
Where clinic information comes from
Every clinic's name, address, contact details, regulated activities, service types, patient groups, registration date and CQC rating comes from the Care Quality Commission's published register of active locations, used under the Open Government Licence. Our current data is as at 1 September 2026. We refresh it from CQC's monthly files. We don't edit CQC's regulatory information, and we never change or hide a rating.
When a clinic asks us to correct how it's displayed, for example its name where CQC lists only a building, we check the request first: we confirm the person works for the clinic (for example, an email address at the clinic's registered website, and their professional registration), and we keep a record of how we verified it. The CQC-registered details stay visible on the clinic's page.
How we categorise clinics
Categories such as ADHD or dermatology are our own, assigned by written rules from each clinic's name, website address and CQC registration. For every clinic we keep a record of which evidence placed it in each category. When the evidence is weak we leave a clinic out rather than guess. More about categories.
Guides and other content
Our guides are written by the CQC Clinics team for people in England choosing private healthcare. They are general information, not medical, legal or financial advice. We base them on primary sources such as CQC, NICE, the NHS and professional regulators, and link to them where it helps. Each guide shows when it was last reviewed. We review guides when guidance changes, and at least once a year.
We don't publish prices, waiting times or reviews we can't verify, and we don't publish patient reviews at all.
Featured listings and our interests
Anwar Enterprises Ltd runs this site. The people behind it also run Avon Medical Ltd, which appears as a featured listing, with links to book, on our ADHD pages. Featured listings are always labelled, are shown separately from the ordinary results, and show the same CQC information as every other clinic. Our interests.
No one can pay to change a clinic's CQC information, to be placed in a category it doesn't belong in, or to have another clinic removed or ranked lower.
Corrections
If something is wrong, report incorrect information or contact us. We check every report by hand. We correct our own content and categories as soon as we've checked them. Errors in CQC's register need to be corrected with CQC, and the fix reaches this site at our next data refresh.
