About CQC Clinics
CQC Clinics is an independent directory of private and independent clinics in England that are registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
We are not part of the CQC and are not endorsed by it. CQC is the independent regulator of health and adult social care in England. Its register is public, and we use it to make independent clinics easier to find and compare.
Where our information comes from
Clinic names, addresses, phone numbers, websites, registration dates, regulated activities and ratings all come from the CQC register, published under the Open Government Licence. Our current data is as at 1 September 2026. CQC has said some updates to its published files are currently taking longer than usual, including cancelled registrations. Always check a clinic's own CQC page before making a decision. Every clinic page links to it.
We don't publish reviews, prices, waiting times or scores of our own. If we add information from clinics in future, we'll show clearly where it came from and when it was last checked.
Which clinics we list
We list active locations that CQC classes as independent healthcare, in services people can usually choose or book: independent doctors and specialist clinics, independent hospitals, community health services, independent mental health services, remote consultation services, slimming clinics, urgent care and drug and alcohol services. We don't currently list NHS GP practices, dentists, care homes or home care. We also leave out locations CQC marks as dormant.
CQC only regulates services in England. Services in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have their own regulators.
How categories work
The CQC register doesn't record specialties such as "ADHD" or "dermatology". We place clinics in categories using their names, their website addresses and the activities and service types they're registered for. This works well for many clinics, but not all. A clinic trading under a general name may be missing from a category it belongs in, and some may appear where they only partly fit. About 37% of clinics don't fit any category from this information yet, but they are still in search and region listings. We are improving categories by reviewing clinics' own websites.
How results are ordered
Search results are ordered by distance when you give a location, and alphabetically otherwise. Some categories show a featured listing first. It is always labelled "Featured", is not ranked by distance or rating, and shows the same CQC information as every other clinic. Nobody can change a clinic's CQC rating, have register information removed, or appear first without that label.
Our interests
The people behind CQC Clinics also have an interest in an independent healthcare provider. It is listed on exactly the same terms as every other clinic and gets no preferential treatment.

Most details come straight from the CQC register. If you run a clinic and your registered details are wrong, update them with CQC and they'll flow through to this site when we next refresh our data.
