About CQC Clinics
CQC Clinics is an independent directory of private and independent clinics in England that are registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
We are not part of the CQC and are not endorsed by it. CQC is the independent regulator of health and adult social care in England. Its register is public, and we use it to make independent clinics easier to find and compare.
Where our information comes from
Clinic names, addresses, phone numbers, websites, registration dates, regulated activities and ratings all come from the CQC register, published under the Open Government Licence. Our current data is as at 1 September 2026. CQC has said some updates to its published files are currently taking longer than usual, including cancelled registrations. Always check a clinic's own CQC page before making a decision. Every clinic page links to it.
We don't publish reviews, prices, waiting times or scores of our own. If we add information from clinics in future, we'll show clearly where it came from and when it was last checked.
Which clinics we list
We list active locations that CQC classes as independent healthcare, in services people can usually choose or book: independent doctors and specialist clinics, independent hospitals, community health services, independent mental health services, remote consultation services, slimming clinics, urgent care and drug and alcohol services. We don't currently list NHS GP practices, dentists, care homes or home care. We also leave out locations CQC marks as dormant.
CQC only regulates services in England. Services in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have their own regulators.
How categories work
We keep two kinds of information separate. Categories such as ADHD, private GP or dermatology are our own labels, to help you find the kind of care you're looking for. CQC information, such as regulated activities, service types, ratings and registration details, is shown exactly as CQC records it.
The CQC register doesn't record specialties, so we place clinics in categories using their names, their website addresses and the activities, service types and patient groups they're registered for. Every rule is written down in one place, and for every clinic we keep a record of the evidence that placed it in each category. When the evidence is weak we leave a clinic out rather than guess. For example, we don't count a cosmetic "skin and laser" clinic as dermatology, or a specialist renting rooms at a medical centre as a GP.
This means some clinics are missing from categories they belong in. About 31% of clinics don't fit any category from this information yet, but they are still in search, location and region listings. If a clinic's categories are wrong, tell us and we'll correct them by hand.
How results are ordered
Search results are ordered by distance when you give a location, and alphabetically otherwise. Some categories show a featured listing first. It is always labelled "Featured", is not ranked by distance or rating, and shows the same CQC information as every other clinic. Nobody can change a clinic's CQC rating, have register information removed, or appear first without that label.
Who runs CQC Clinics
CQC Clinics is run by Anwar Enterprises Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 13949086). Registered office: Shirley Social Club, Marshall Lake Road, Shirley, Solihull, B90 4RB.
Our interests
The people behind CQC Clinics also run Avon Medical Ltd, an independent healthcare provider. It appears as a featured listing, with links to book directly with it, on our ADHD pages and in ADHD search results. Those listings are always labelled as featured and as our own clinic.
Everywhere else it's listed in the same way as every other clinic, and its CQC rating and registration details are shown exactly as CQC publishes them. We don't change or hide any other clinic's information because of this interest.
Something wrong?
Most details come straight from the CQC register. If you run a clinic and your registered details are wrong, update them with CQC and they'll flow through to this site when we next refresh our data. For anything else, including our categories, report incorrect information or claim your clinic's profile.
